Altyn Shawl for Mom

I feel like I am constantly working on new designs or knitting samples for them. With little extra time on my knitting plate, I knew I needed a quick project. Yet, such a project had to be elegant, luxurious and wholly mom-worthy. The Altyn Shawl by Ainur Berkimbayeva is just that!

As written above, this shawl required only one skein of yarn. In fact, it was quite satisfying in how the pattern used up almost all of it, with only a 4-gram remainder for me. The half silk yarn from Serendipitous Wool, which is the yarn recommended in the pattern, is super scrumptious and supple, yet it lends great clarity to the stitch definition. The colorway, called Ustra, is a perfect balance of silver and gold–pewter, as one person called it on Instagram.

The edge of the shawl features the Broomstick knitting stitch, which was so much fun to learn and create! I absolutely love the look of it against all that garter stitch. If you’re interested in learning the Broomstick stitch, I highly recommend the Altyn Shawl, which is available for purchase on Ravelry here.

Hope my mama loves it! (Since she’s pretty much my number one knitting fan, I suspect she will.)
