HYPHENATED TUTORIALS

In my sweater design Hyphenated, I include instructions for knitting the lifted increase, which many knitters believe works nicely in colorwork because it is nearly invisible. Here I provide instructions and video tutorials demonstrating how to work the knit right-leaning lifted increase and the purled right leaning lifted increase. Please note that I created this tutorial to accompany my Hyphenated pattern, and instructions for this increase can vary from pattern to pattern. If you are using these tutorials for a different pattern, please use discretion.

How to work the knit right-leaning lifted increase: Insert the tip of your right needle into the stitch one below the next stitch on the left needle, from front to back (knit-wise). Knit this stitch, then knit the stitch above it on the left needle. The video below demonstrates how it is often easier to roll your left needle toward you so you can view the back of the work as you knit through the loop.

How to work the purled right-leaning lifted increase: Insert the tip of your right needle into the stitch one below the next stitch on the left needle, from back to front (purl-wise). Purl this stitch, then purl the stitch above it on the left needle.
