Halfway Pattern PDF

$8.00

With a strand of fingering held together with a strand of lace throughout the pattern, Halfway is a boxy two-tone top that changes colors at the approximate midway point of the sweater by simply switching out the color for the lace. In the sample the same colorways are held together for the bottom color section, while a different lace colorway is used for the top for a marled effect.

The design is divided vertically as well, with a front lace panel that is worked with the intarsia technique back and forth in the round. It is not as contradictory as it seems! The garment is worked back and forth to the left side, where the work is turned and German short rows are used to form a side seam. Thus, Halfway is entirely seamless. It is constructed from the bottom up, and once the underarm section is reached, the top front and back are worked flat separately, and you can choose either a visible or invisible three-needle bind-off for the shoulders. There are options for three-quarter sleeves or long sleeves, which are worked in the round.

SIZING

All of my patterns are size inclusive.

To fit bust circumference of 28 (32, 36, 40, 44) (48, 52, 56, 60, 64) in / 70 (80, 90, 100, 110) (120, 130, 140, 150, 160) cm

Finished bust circumference: 36 (39.75, 44, 48, 51.75) (56, 59.75, 64, 67.75, 72) in / 90 (99.5, 110, 120, 129.5) (140, 149.5, 160, 169.5, 180)

Intended to fit with approximately 7.75-8 in / 19.5-20 cm of positive ease. Sleeves are intended to fit with 0-1 in / 0-2.5 cm of positive ease. If between sizes, I recommend going up a size. Please review the upper sleeve circumference measurement (J) in the Schematic at the bottom left to help determine your size. For less/greater ease in the bicep area, please go down/up a needle size for the sleeves. You may also wish to further space out the sleeve decrease rounds.

See Schematic photo above for more sizing info.

YARN

The pattern uses a light fingering weight yarn and mohair yarn, but any combination of fingering and lace weight yarn can be used so long as gauge is met. For the bulk of the pattern, the fingering and mohair are held together, and a DK weight yarn can be substituted for those portions. If omitting the lace panel, a DK weight yarn can be used throughout.
